Dr. Amara Whitfield opened Birchwood in a single treatment room in 2011, after a decade of watching patients at other practices delay care out of anxiety or distrust. She built Birchwood around a simple rule: every visit starts with a real conversation, not a rushed exam.
Fifteen years later, that rule still shapes everything — from the unhurried appointment lengths on our schedule, to the plain-language treatment plans we hand every patient, to the fact that our hygienists have an average tenure of eight years. Growth was never the goal; trust was, and it's why most of our new patients still come from referrals.
